The Virginia 12-Hour Online Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program (RADEP) is designed to help drivers make safer choices and avoid risky driving behaviors. Many students take RADEP because a court requires it. Others may take the course before court after speaking with an attorney. Completing the course can show that you are taking your driving situation seriously and are willing to make better choices.

It is your responsibility to determine if your court requires in person / classroom courses , or if they accept online courses. You should always check with your court prior to registering for a RADEP course to ensure they accept online courses to satisfy the RADEP requirement. Most courts do accept online courses, but there are a few courts who may require you to take an in-person course.

The Reckless and Aggressive Driving Education Program (RADEP) is a 12-hour driver education course for people who need additional training because of serious or unsafe driving behavior. RADEP is designed to help drivers understand how poor choices can develop behind the wheel and what they can do to prevent those choices from becoming repeated habits.

RADEP goes beyond simply reviewing traffic laws. Students are encouraged to think about their own driving habits, decisions, and reactions.Through discussions, activities, and self-assessments, students learn how unsafe behavior can become familiar over time. A driver may begin to believe a risky habit is safe simply because it has not caused a problem before. The course helps students understand that getting away with a risky choice does not make that choice safe.

RADEP also looks at how emotions and outside pressure can affect driving. Anger, stress, impatience, peer pressure, and the desire to stay in control can all lead to poor decisions on the road. Each lesson gives students practical ways to slow down, think ahead, manage emotions, recognize danger, and make safer choices. By the end of the program, students should have a better understanding of their own driving behavior and the risks connected to reckless and aggressive driving. The goal of RADEP is simple: help drivers recognize unsafe habits, improve their decision-making, reduce crash risk, and become safer and more responsible behind the wheel.
